TRIPADVISOR - wonderlust13 - 1 Jan 2019 - - - 3 Happy Families!! - - - I booked Zilwa to accommodate my husband and me, 2 Children & 4 grandchildren (ages ranging from 14months to 17yrs) so a difficult one in terms of needs.This for our 50th anniversary. Having only previously stayed 5 star, Zilwas more than met all our requirements.. Family accommodation was excellent, and I was extremely happy with ours. Chinese restaurant was very good, but be prepared for an extremely hot and stifling night!! Extra fans need to be installed as the 2nd time we booked, could not eat inside and were accommodated in the buffet area, Unbearable!!!! Two things missed were room service especially with young ones(but we managed), and a pool/beach front restaurant offering salads and the like. Only having the option of going up to the bar area to order off a menu of strictly sandwiches and other wheat product was a problem. Happily the chef made daily salads for us, but to keep things simple, the same was repeated for a week. Got boring, but much appreciated! All in all, my entire family have said they would be happy to go back, shallow water, sometimes 'squishy feet in the sea, and all! That from one 'very picky' daughter, so a huge compliment. We worked around the small issues that niggled, so from booking with trepidation as Zilwa was entirely unknown, I'm delighted to be able to happily say, mission accomplished with success. Ive read some of the other reviews, and my response is, you're not staying 5 star so have leeway and don't 'nit pick'...... if I could do my daily 1 hour beach front walk (for me a must), would not hesitate to return, Excellent value for money.....(https://tinyurl.com/yackfdo3)
Kudos to all the staff manning breakfast & dinner who went out of their way to accommodate all our needs ensuring everything was on our table for 10 every single day as they got to know us. Superb service with a smile....
Breakfasts good and the inclusion of gluten free options great!!! Dinners went from excellent to not so good, but we've had the same issue at 5star, so no complaints.
