TRIPADVISOR - Fearless785619 - 3 Dec 2020 - - - short stay - - - Family oriented resort but a bit tired Bungalows were ok but no a/c or fridge .In this day and age -please? No room service either so you have to walk to the hotel( we were 200m away) to get a drink Road to resort is in extremely poor condition -would never consider another visit until road is repaired Food is a bit like the school dinners I remember Trip was part of a road trip and far more expensive than anywhere else we stayed and we stayed at some lovely hotels/resorts -not good value for money at all . Umngazi Hotel And Spa
We are very disappointed that you did not find Umngazi to your liking. We spent months of lockdown carrying out maintenance and improvements to the property and we have received almost unanimous compliments from new and returning guests since we opened. Umngazi's rooms are freestanding, spaciously situation in our beautiful subtropical natural gardens, which is great during these times of physically distancing. It does however mean a short stroll absorbing the tranquility of the surroundings in-order to get from your room to enjoy a delicious meal on our dining room deck, that our chefs so proudly prepare, or a refreshing sundowner of your choice from our bar or award-winning wine list, overlooking the pristinely beautiful Umngazi estuary. Our temperate coastal conditions seldom call for air-conditioning that led us to install ceiling fans in our rooms instead. As per our website, guests are welcome to request a fridge in their room should they have a need for one. We have a limited number to meet these requests. After lengthy communication with the department of public works, we are very grateful that maintenance commenced last week on the last 10km stretch of road to Umngazi. We will continue to motivate this with the relevant authorities. We hope you enjoyed the remainder of your road trip and it is our wish that you will return to Umngazi one day and experience it in its splendour for the beauty that it offers and is worth.
