TRIP ADVISOR - karolinmenz - 3 May 2022 - - - Unfortunately expectations were not met - - - "The rooms are not so cosy like the pictures are showing. A lot of white walls :( The lounge and bar area is really lovely. Restaurant is for that price just okay. The problem is, that the rates are quit high and you expect more than a three star atmosphere. The play areas are more for bigger kids. We have a 1,5 years old daughter and in their creative zone where just a few things for her to do :( the view and location of the hotel is nice. Everything was clean but a little bit to sterlie. The road to the hotel is in a really bad condition and we are not sure if we would book for that price the hotel again. We sleep very well in the beds. The motivation from the stuff in the morning during the breakfast was totally missing. Especially the lady at the egg station."

Dear Karolin. We are very disappointed that your expectations weren't met on your one night stay with us. Umngazi is remote but once here we find that guest completely immerse themselves in the tranquility and relaxation that a couple of days in paradise can offer. Unfortunately, one night just doesn't do justice to the trip to get to us. Our rooms are beautifully clean and decorated with lovely large bright ocean scene prints, fitting of the amazing Wild Coast within which we are so blessed to be situated. Colourful scatter cushion and bed throws against fresh white bedding and painted walls as depicted on our website, provide for a cosy and comfortable room to enjoy a relaxing holiday in. Our previous reviews are testimony to the fact that guests love what our chefs so passionately prepare. Our rates include all three deliciously prepared, generous meals with a wide variety of options as well as morning and afternoon teas with wonderfully scrumptious treats. Umngazi guests marvel at the expanse of activities on offer, not only on the property but also in the beautiful subtropical surrounds of the hotel, with magnificent unspoilt beaches, endless hillside and river trails as well as river activities on offer. Our creative corner is a delightful area where parents or nannies can spend quality time with young children entertaining them for hours on end. The ever-friendly Elma, who often prepares delicious omelets and eggs to order for our guests, who she loves so much, has been doing so for many years. Greeted politely, she always smiles, is proud of what she does and loves her guests from the bottom of her heart. She will be terribly upset to hear differently. We hope to welcome you back for an extended stay so that we can proudly share the friendly Umngazi hospitality service with you that we are so well known for.
