TRIP ADVISOR - Wigwamjan - 27 July 2022 - - - All round family fun - - - "Excellent family holiday. Lovely to not have to think about anyone's catering needs or preferences. Complete over-indulgence of eating, sleeping, hiking and having fun. Just what a holiday is about. The drive from East London airport to Umngazi was a bit hairy with riots, scammers trying to get us to pay for a fake pass to drive on a public road, etc. Our country has it's issues and unfortunately, we needed a car and wanted that autonomy, but it would make me think twice about driving again. Although there is beauty everywhere, Mthata itself has a dangerous element that can rise up. Just be aware and possibly phone the GM before you leave the airport to ask if there have been recent incidents or reports. Forewarned is best."

The value of tourism in our region is unprecedented and a lifeline in this beautiful, tranquil and scenic part of our country with all its challenges. Guests often refer to the peaceful Umngazi bubble when staying with us. The drive from East London on the N2 and R61 is on a very good road surface and mostly incident free but like anywhere in our country, be vigilant and don't be distracted by opportunist. It is a breathtaking scenic drive down to Umngazi so take it easy and enjoy the trip. The other option is to fly to Mthatha and make use of a professionally operated shuttle service for a hassle free remaining 90km trip to our hotel. We hope to welcome you back again and wish you friendly Pondo hugs from the Umngazi family.
