BOOKING.COM - Rob Stable Genius, au - 14 Aug 2022 - - - "Relaxing, gorgeous rondavels and surroundings, incredibly peaceful and comfortable, delicious food. Extensive choice and delicious. Would love to see proper brown whole-wheat bread baked and offered daily instead of that sliced stuff. The staff was unfailingly friendly but it is possible that more training may be required as guests return after Covid just to reinforce standards. For example, we arrived in heavy rain and were not offered help with our cases to get to our lovely Emlonyeni bungalow. We had to ask for an umbrella and the staff member did not seem to know there were umbrellas provided in the bungalows. Knowledge of Umngazi was assumed (which is reasonable as most people are returning South Africans) but a little more explanation of how things work might have helped. A folder in the bungalows offering details of activities, hikes, walks and the area’s history would have been appreciated."

Dear Rob. Thank you for your review following your stay with us at Umngazi. We appreciate the compliments as well as constructive feedback where we can improve. We're thrilled you could relax in our gorgeous and incredibly peaceful surrounds and that you enjoyed our delicious food that our chefs so passionately produce. Umngazi bakes fresh loaves of homemade whole wheat, rye and gluten free breads, served each morning at breakfast. Fresh homemade bread is also served at lunch as well as in the evenings served with our delicious homemade soups. The only sliced bread on offer is at our toaster should guests prefer that for making toast. We're sorry that you missed this offering that we so pride ourselves in. We do have porters on duty during the day and security takes over these responsibilities for guests who may arrive after hours. There's no excuse for us not offering you this service on arrival and we appreciate you bringing this to our attention for correction. We are in the process of updating and returning information folders to our rooms as we fully appreciate guests just want to relax and settle in on arrival and sometimes don't take in the orientation given by our friendly receptionists. We do have a digital interactive screen at reception where all information is available at one's fingertips. Management is available to answer any queries and offer information at any time during your stay. We would very much like to welcome you back and wish you friendly Pondo blessings from the Umngazi family.
