TRIPADVISOR - andrewtrott1 - 24 Dec 2023 - - - Beautiful setting, no wifi - - - "Stunning surrounds. Amazing place for family travelers given all the support they have for kids, including dedicated areas, avtivities, and chaperones etc. Awesome spa experience. Well maintained and extensive common areas for hanging out. Excellent service. The only thing that stuck out was a lack of internet service. They said that wifi worked in the common areas, but even there it was extremely slow. Wifi reached our room (meaning there was internet access there once presumably) but no internet access. For the price of rooms and given we live in the modern world with Starlink and other fast remote internet options, this seems like a cost cop out hiding behind an intentional choice."

Dear Andrew. Thank you for your amazing review following your stay with us at Umngazi. We are so pleased that you enjoyed everything that a stay with us on the Wild Coast offers. We appreciated you bringing up the wifi issue so that I can clarify the situation, for you as well as for future guests. Umngazi offers complimentary 100Meg high speed internet wifi connection in public areas through a dedicated Vodacom tower. We also have an additional 50Meg satellite dish feed available in the lounge area should our main Vodacom wireless feed go down. Unfortunately, this was the case during your stay, probably due to thunderstorms in the area. We do sincerely apologise for this inconvenience as we realise how important it is in this day and age. Although the Vodacom repair is completely outside our direct control, we do everything in our power to communicate extensively with Vodacom's head office to expedite the repair, which they did, keeping in mind the remoteness of the area. We are most grateful to Vodacom for their professionalism in dealing with an outage immediately when it does happen. I can assure you we have a highly competent and professional company providing us with a service to ensure we have wifi internet available at all times at Umngazi at substantial cost. Unfortunately, Starlink is not available in SA yet, we are registered on their waiting list for when it is. We hope to welcome you back at Umngazi again one day and wish you well until then.
