Tucked away on the Wild Coast, in the heart of Pondoland, and encompassed by rocky coastline, indigenous forests, secluded coves and breathtaking views of the Indian Ocean, lies the award winning Umngazi Hotel & Spa. The thatch-roofed bungalows are situated amongst the indigenous gardens which provide the perfect setting for totally relaxed holiday. Weekly fly-in packages are available Friday to Friday from Virginia, Durban where you fly at 500 feet above sea level along the beautiful coastline – a wonderful way to start your holiday.

From the moment we stepped on the property the treatment we received was exceptional. The facilities and the food were top notch. We can’t thank everyone enough for a fantastic end to our SA vacation.

Umngazi was always a bucket list stay. Well we did it! Amazing location, friendly people, great food. The spa should be visited (do the couples massage with the bottle of bubbly included)

BEST FAMILY TIME
We had the most wonderful week with our young adult children. The location, the people, the chalets, the food, the spa, the activities, all just next level that catered perfectly for our needs.

We spent three evenings at Umngazi. So happy to have found such a beautiful place. Our cottage had a sea view, all time of the day and night we could look at the sea. Loved the beautifully kept gardens. The thatched cottages. Loved the furnishings. White floor. White furniture. Minimalist, peaceful. Food was amazing. 3 meals a day: everything possible was available, in spite of the remoteness to towns. A huge variety of fresh ingredients which could be assembled every which way. We were Friday and Robinson Crusoe on the beach. No one else seemed to be there. Loved the cruise on the Mouth, as well as the knowledge and enthusiasm of the tour guide. Also the fact that we could rent a double canoe and paddle. Am praying that Umngazi will not disappear or become an urban beach resort like so many others in South Africa!
